BIO: Georgia born, Curtis Aikens began his love of produce as a young boy picking food in the garden with his grandfather. Through high school, Curtis worked at the Conyers, Georiga A&P Market where his passion for fresh produce took off to become a career.
While vacationing in California, he was drawn to Alpha Beta grocery store in the San Francisco Bay area and began working for them after he relocated there. Before he knew it, seven years went by and he opened his first produce company called Peaches. Curtis’ next move was to New York to head Dom’s Wholesale Market and Balducci’s produce department. This position made him responsible for the United Nations Cafeteria, the Plaza Hotel and the US Open Tennis Tournament. His TV career began as a consultant and food stylist on commercials for Pizza Hut, Pillsburg and McDonalds.
Curtis Aikens returned to Georgia to start Aiken’s Family Produce, Inc., a wholesale and retail supplier of produce for clients including Rockdale County School System, the TV series In the Heat of the Night, and feature film Glory. Curtis Aikens is on the Food Network with shows Pick of the Day, From My Garden, Meals Without Meat, and Food IN a Flash. Curtis and Mertado, a leading social shopping company with discounted home and kitchen products collaborated to create exclusive and appealing content for the Mertado community. Curtis is available for speaking engagements, cooking demonstrations, and hosting.
