Biography:

The year 2013 has become a coming out party for Chef Jamie Malone of Sea Change restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Food & Wine Magazine recently named Chef Jamie to the Best New Chef list of 2013 alongside other up and coming chefs including Danny Bowien, Michael Voltaggio, and Jason Vincent. She is not done winning awards in the cooking industry as she was also nominated as a semi-finalist for the highly sought after Rising Star Award from the James Beard Foundation. Chef Jamie is bringing fresh, sustainable seafood to the forefront of taste buds in landlocked Minnesota.

Chef Jamie considers James Beard Award Best Chef Tim McKee her biggest mentor thus far in her career. She interned and worked with Chef Tim at La Belle Vie, voted one of America’s top restaurants by Zagat in 2009. After working at Porter and Frye with local talented Chef Steven Brown, Chef Jamie returned to help run McKee’s restaurant Barrio. They’re relationship remains strong as Chef Jamie continues her head chef position at Sea Change.

Sea Change brings a fresh seafood menu to Minneapolis and Chef de Cuisine Jamie puts her special touch on each dish. She holds a position on the culinary board for the Norwegian Seafood Council and embraces Nordic practices of more sustainably sourced seafood. The council is continuously researching sustainable fish farming techniques and supplying their fish to many different markets around the world. Chef Jamie hopes to bring these sorts of economically sustainable and environmentally friendly practices and seafood product itself to the United States.
