Biography:

Celebrity Chef speaker Rachel Allen is one of the most well known chefs in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and in the world.  She began her journey to become a professional chef at the age of 18 when she began studying at Ireland’s prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School.  Upon graduating, the young chef began working at the Ballymaloe House Hotel before returning to her alma mater to test recipes and teach classes. Chef Allen’s work became known throughout the country and soon enough, she found herself with a television series. In September 2004 Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), the national public service broadcaster of Ireland, launched Rachel’s first series called Rachel’s Favourite Food. The show was also broadcast in Australia, Canada, and Italy making Rachel Allen’s name internationally known.  Chef Allen also wrote a book, Rachel’s Favourite Food, to accompany the series. As a result of the success of her first show and book, Rachel launched two more series and books called Rachel’s Favourite Food for Friends, and Rachel’s Favourite Food At Home. The Latter became Rachel’s first show to be broadcast in the United States in 2010.  Chef Allen can also be seen in popular foodie shows such as BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Good Food Channel Market Kitchen, and Rachel Allen: Bake! She officially earned the title of Doctor Rachel Allen after receiving an Honorary Doctorate in Science from the University of Ulster at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall for all of her accomplishments and contributions to the culinary arts.

This talented chef is accomplished in more than just cooking.  Rachel is a seasoned writer. She has written for many major Irish publications including the Irish lifestyle magazine Image, as well as a weekly column in the Sunday Tribune magazine.  She also frequently contributes to BBC Good Food magazine and AWT At Home magazine. Additionally she designs her own line of products for Tipperary Crystal. Outside of the kitchen, she lives in County Cork in Ireland with her husband Isaac Allen, son of celebrity chef Darina Allen, and their three children.
