Many would call Celebrity Chef Steven Raichlen a “grillmaster”. Using his knowledge of culture from his experiences traveling, Chef Raichlen writes extensively about the culture and practice of grilling. He is a multi-award winning cookbook author, cooking teacher and television host of PBS’s programs Barbecue University and Primal Grill.
He has written 28 cookbooks, five of which have won James Beard awards. His James Beard award-winning cookbooks include: High-Flavor, Low-Fat Cooking, High-Flavor, Low-Fat Vegetarian Cooking, Healthy Latin Cooking, and Healthy Jewish Cooking. He has also written for many publications such as Esquire, the New York Times, GQ, and all the major food magazines, such as Food & Wine and more.
In 2003, Bon Appetit magazine named Chef Raichlen the Cooking Teacher of the Year. That same year, his cookbook The Barbecue! Bible won an IACP Julia Child Award and was named a New York Times Bestseller. This cookbook was based on his four years of research while traveling 150,000 miles through 25 countries on five continents.
He has also appeared on many television programs including Good Morning America, The Discovery Channel, and Oprah, to name a few. Chef Raichlen also defeated Chef Roksbura Michiba in a barbecue battle on Japanese television in 2003.
In addition, Chef Raichlen is the founder of Barbecue University, which offers three-day intensive courses on live fire cooking at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, rated by Food Network as the Number 1 Barbecue Experience in the U.S.
