Biography:

Critically acclaimed chef, restaurateur, New York Times Bestselling cookbook author, and television personality, Mario Batali is one of the most well-known and recognized celebrity chefs. Alongside his business partner Joe Bastianich, Batali has created a culinary and restaurant empire in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Singapore, and Hong Kong. His traditional red beard and orange Crocs make him stand out from the crowd, and around 2004, he launched “Malto Mario” and “Mario Eats Italy” on Food Network. He also starred in the hit series, “Iron Chef America”, and “Iron Chef: Battle of the Masters,” also starring Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto, Cat Cora, Jose Garces, Michael Symon, Marc Forgione, and Geoffrey Zakarian. His shows were beyond successful, and inspired the launch of three cookbooks, which offered a wide variety of Italian style dishes that spanned a range of difficulties, offering something for even the most particular Italian food lovers.

Mario made the move to PBS in 2007, starring in “Spain…On the Road Again”, alongside movie star Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Bittman, columnist for the New York Times. In 2010, he became one of the first chefs to release an iPhone app called, “Mario Batali Cooks!” The following year, he joined up with NBC to be a co-host on the hit daytime cooking show, “The Chew,” co-hosted by Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz.
