Tim Love

Celebrity Chef Speaker Tim Love had an unconventional entry into the restaurant industry, working his way up through the kitchen ranks as a volunteer while in college; it was not long before he was running his first kitchen. After stints at several other noteworthy restaurants in the southeast, Tim set out on his own and opened his first two restaurants in 2006. As he soon realized the potential in the growing dining scene in Texas, the chef went on to open numerous more restaurants in the area, all highly successful and with their own twist on his signature urban western cuisine—the White Elephant Saloon, flagship Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Woodshed Smokehouse, Love Shack and Queenie’s Steakhouse. His tasty dishes have garnered praise from Bon Appétit, The New York Times, People, Food & Wine, and Food Network Magazines.

Tim has the personality to go with his creative food—you are more likely to see the Texas native wearing a cowboy hat in the kitchen instead of a chef’s hat. Tim’s cooking demonstrations are insanely popular and entertaining, landing him regular spots in around the country at gigs like the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. From competing on Top Chef Masters and Iron Chef against Masaharu Morimoto, to appearances on The Today Show and Good Morning America, Tim is a crowd and critic favorite. In 2014, he joined CNBC’s show Restaurant Startup.

Besides his urban western food palate, Tim also pioneered a trail drive in which he travels from Texas to NYC, collecting local ingredients from farmer’s markets to prepare a meal to benefit Spoons Across America; the journey was filmed by Food Network in a special segment called Cowboys on the Trail. The Hellman’s Mayonnaise spokesman also is an avid supporter of charities and all things Texas such as Burgers 4 Babies and the NICU’s Helping Hands Foundation.  In 2012, the James Beard nominated chef partnered with Sodexo to feed hungry fans at the Texas Christian University football stadium. Additionally, his line of cookware called the Chef Tim Love Collection is available at Sur La Table. When he’s not in the kitchen, Tim enjoys hunting and spending time with his family.

Whitney Miller

After all three MasterChef judges named Whitney Miller the contestant to beat, it was no surprise when Celebrity Chef Speaker Whitney took home the MasterChef title at the end of the first season. After becoming the first winner of the Fox cooking show, Whitney’s MasterChef cookbook Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm was released in July 2011. Nicknamed the Pastry Princess by judge Joe Bastianich, who judged the competition along with Gordon Ramsey and Graham Elliot, the show’s youngest contestant showed an affinity for desserts early on. After growing up in the kitchen alongside her mother, sisters, and grandmother, whipping up dishes for large Sunday dinners, Whitney now enjoys preparing the same Southern favorites from her childhood, but with a healthy twist. People, Southern Living, Cooking Light, and Clean Eating have all published her tasty recipes, and Whitney has contributed as a food writer to Taste of Home, Flavors (Atlanta), and Southern Living.

Whitney’s delectable Southern cuisine has satisfied the stomachs of notable celebrities like Bubba Watson, Rascal Flatts, Tim Tebow, and Duck Dynasty’s Willie and Jep Robertson; she has also cooked beside food experts Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, Paula Deen, Guy Fieri and Curtis Stone. The Pastry Princess is intimately involved with the community and multiple charities; she has partnered with Panera Bread as a featured food expert, as well as with the Mississippi Girl Scouts of America, the American Heart Assoication, and the Mississippi Muscular Sclerosis Society.

After surviving week after week without being eliminated by the MasterChef panel of judges, Whitney now acts as a celebrity judge for several cooking events and contests, from Memphis Cupcake Camp Competition and the B.I.O. Special Events Wedding Cake Competition with Duff Goldman to the 2014 World Food Championship. Recently Whitney served as the opening night chef at the 2013 Chefdance, which is a part of the Sundance Film Festival. Her second cookbook is currently in the works. Whitney is also a Christian.

Vivian Howard

From opening a nationally recognized restaurant in eastern North Carolina to creating her own award-winning show entitled A Chef’s Life, it is hard to believe that chef Vivian Howard still has time to write her two upcoming books and raise a family. Howard did not always envision herself as a renowned chef, though. In fact she originally uprooted herself from her tobacco-raising, hog-farming hometown to go to college and later move to New York City to fulfill her dig dreams in advertising.

Contrary to her high expectations though, Howard found the advertising world somewhat disenchanting compared to the vibrant cooking scene she observed in the city. Following her instincts, Howard quit advertising and became a server at the Voyage in Greenwich Village. She eventually trailed under the restaurant’s chef Scott Barton, who specialized in Southern cuisine with an African twist, which allowed her to learn more about southern food and preparation. Howard said she never originally planned to prolong her journey in the culinary arts, but rather considered a career in writing for a food magazine a more viable option. As her love for the industry progressed though, she decided to attend the Institute of Culinary Education and begin her career as a chef before getting an internship as a chef at WD~50 and launching a small catering business from her house.

Despite Howard’s growing success in NYC, she and her husband decided to move to Kinston, NC in 2006 where they opened their restaurant Chef & the Farmer. Cementing a strong relationship with the state’s local farmers, the restaurant serves both fresh and local southern cuisine.

Although the restaurant did not thrive at first, word of the restaurant’s charm and talent has made it a travel destination with an impressive turnout of both tourists and locals. Much of the restaurant’s increased attendance can also be accredited to Howard’s PBS show A Chef’s Life, which documents the food and preparation techniques of the eastern Carolina region. Intrigued by her own unfamiliarity with local recipes of the older generations in her area, Howard hoped to find a way to preserve the many unknown cooking traditions of the past — hence her decision to create the PBS show A Chef’s Life that won a Peabody Award for its impact in June 2014.

From the television screen to paper, Howard also has a two-book deals in the works as well, with her first book to be published in 2015 and the second in 2018. The first is entitled Deep Run Roots: Ingredients from My Corner of North Carolina, which is about her experience cooking in eastern North Carolina while raising a family. Her second book, however, is still under wraps.

Damaris Phillips

Celebrity Chef Damaris Phillips learned to cook at an early age and was responsible for cooking a meal once a week for her large family. However, becoming a television cooking star was not always part of her plans. After graduating with a degree in culinary arts, her passion for food grew immensely and her dreams became bigger.

Celebrity Chef Speaker Damaris graduated from Jefferson Community and Technical College and now teaches baking and restaurant management at the same school where she encourages up-and-coming chefs to follow their dreams. However, before she returned to teaching, Damaris took on several baking and restaurant jobs where she was inspired to become the Next Food Network Star.

Damaris’ original claim to fame comes from her time as a contestant on the ninth season of “The Next Food Network Star.” This past year, Damaris fulfilled her dream to compete on Food Network’s popular show and it didn’t take long for America to fall in love with this Southern spitfire. With her signature blonde hair and sweet Southern charm, she faced off against eleven other contestants and not only impressed the judges, but she won the audience vote and was crowned the winner. The victory granted her the opportunity to host her own television series on Food Network, Southern at Heart. The show debuted in October 2013 and teaches American’s how to impress their dinner dates with her fresh take on Southern food. The show has already been renewed for a third season which premiered in November of 2014.

Although Damaris is fairly new to the Food Network family, she has turned into one of the most recognizable faces on the network.
