BIO: Chef and restaurateur Michelle Bernstein is a native of Miami with a Jewish and Latin descent with a passion for food. James Beard Award winner and author of Cuisine a Latina, she is inspired by memories of soulful cooking from years of traveling. Michelle has recently opened Crumb on Parchment, a café in the Miami Design District featuring sandwiches, soups and scrumptious baked goods.
Michelle Bernstein also owns Michy’s-a cozy, haute neighborhood on Miami’s Biscayne Corridor and Sra. Martinez, a tapas restaurant in the Miami Design District. Sra. Martinez was voted one of the “Best New Restaurants in America.” Michelle also serves as executive chef of Michelle Bernstein at The Omphoy. Michelle Bernstein also took a stab in TV to co-host Melting Pot, a show on the Food Network where she helped introduce Americans to the art of Nuevo Latino Cuisine. She eventually returned to TV to battle Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America. Beyond her famous restaurants, Michelle continues to host her PBS weekly TV series, Check, Please! South Florida and consults for Delta Airlines to create in-flight menus for First and Business Class Elite. This past year, she launched her new collection of cookware and cutlery sets, ‘Michelle B’ on HSN. Michelle Bernstein is available for cooking demonstrations, personal appearances and hosting.
