Josh Capon

Beginning by serving his friends, Josh discovered his gift for cooking while attending University of Maryland. This led to Josh transferring to culinary school at Johnson and Wales University for his bachelor’s degree. After receiving an offer from Charlie Palmer, Josh participated in opening the Lenox Room. Subsequently, Josh used this as a launching pad to pursue his culinary studies through Europe and eventually return to Manhattan where he launched his career.

Katsuya Fukushima

Celebrity Chef Speaker Katsuya Fukushima is a math wiz who has used his college degree to shake up the culinary world through molecular gastronomy. His journey is a true inspiration and testimony of hard work and brains that not every ordinary chef has.

Katsuya was a double major in math and art but he knew while in college he was destined to chef. He enrolled at L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland and never looked back. Chef Katsuya worked several line cook jobs within the next few years; one being Cashion’s Eat Place under the guidance of Ann Cashion. Soon after his work for her he decided to fully devote himself to Jaleo, a tapas bar in Bethesda. After working at Jaleo for 3 years he assisted the esteemed owner and celebrity chef  Jose Andres in opening Café Atlantico where Katsuya was offered the chef de cuisine position.

His experience as Jaleo’s chef de cuisine gave Katsuya a presumable amount of freedom in how he wanted to prepare the menu. Chef Katsuya then began to unlock the wonders of molecular gastronomy. The term refers to new and inventive way of using science to aid your cooking. Katsuya was even recognized by Bon Appetit magazine as being the “pioneer” of molecular gastronomy.

In 2010 Katsuya competed against Jose Garces on Iron Chef: America in the battle of Mahi Mahi; he won with ease. Since then Katsuya has made several appearances on cooking shows such as Meet the Chef, No Reservations, and Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie. He recently opened his own restaurant in Washington. D.C. in 2013 named Daikaya. Daikaya features a highly personal and hand crafted menu that reflects all of Katsuya’s dreams and experiences.

When he is not in the kitchen, Katsuya enjoys volunteering at fundraisers and making appearances and speeches at local colleges. His two most noted appearances are at Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Autism Speaks. He also recently spoke with students at the College of William and Mary about hopes and aspirations and where they can take you if you work hard.

Celebrity Chefs Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne are the masterminds behind the Washington D.C. cupcake bakery known as Georgetown Cupcake. The sisters and business partners opened their cupcakery in 2008 and it has since become a tourist attraction in the DC area. They have since gone on to open two more cupcake bakery locations in SoHo, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts. Claire Robinson

Celebrity chef Claire Robinson received her culinary education from the French Culinary Institute and practically went from the classroom to the Food Network studio. Following graduation, Robinson earned a position working on the culinary production team for several cooking shows including Food Network’s Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello and Everyday Baking for Everyday Food on PBS. Her first on-camera television role came in 2010 when she was cast as host for Food Network Challenge as replacement for Keegan Gerhard. While hosting the show, Claire saw several notable chefs who competed on the show and went on to become big names in the culinary industry including Duff Goldman, Buddy Valastro, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Marc Murphy. She has also starred on many other television programs throughout her career including Grill It! with Bobby Flay, The Nate Berkus Show, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Food Network Challenge, and Chef Race: UK vs U.S. She also competed on the hit reality competition series, Chopped, in their special All-Stars Tournament where she went up against fellow contestants and celebrity chefs Anne Burrell, Duff Goldman, and Robert Irvine. The chefs cooked for judges Marcus Samuelsson, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Marc Murphy in hopes of winning $50,000 for their charity of choice. In 2010, Chef Claire Robinson released her first cookbook 5 Ingredient Fix: Easy, Elegant, and Irresistible Recipes. Adam Gertler

Celebrity chef Adam Gertler has long been a television personality in the culinary industry. Competing on season four of Food Network Star, Chef Gertler went up against nine other chefs, including celebrity chefs Shane Lyons and Kelsey Nixon, to finish the season in second place. Adam lost in the final episode to celebrity chef Aaron McCargo, Jr. During the nine-week competition, Chef Adam Gertler had the opportunity to cook for world renowned chefs including Giada De Laurentiis, Robert Irvine, Paula Deen, Martha Stewart, and Iron Chefs Masaharu Morimoto, Cat Cora, and Michael Symon.

Following Food Network Star, Adam went on to host the Food Network series Will Work for Food, which allowed him to show viewers food related jobs from behind the scenes. From there he went on to host Kid in a Candy Store, which was similar to his other series with a focus on desserts, allowing him to travel the United States showing viewers some of the most innovative desserts in bakeries, restaurants, and even food carts.
