Hugh Acheson

Southern Chef Speaker and Top Chef judge Hugh owns and operates two restaurants in Athens called Five & Ten and The National. He opened Empire State South in Atlanta in 2010 and his most recent eatery The Florence in Savannah in the summer of 2014. His southern cuisine with a European flair has created an infusion of tastes and dishes that have made him one of the most popular chef’s in the southeast. In 2015, Hugh began a charity initiative to reevaluate and remake home economics course in his home state of Georgia and eventually nationwide.

Southern Chef Speaker Hugh is a Canadian native whose love for the culinary arts brought him to the United States.

He worked in several establishments in Ottawa before moving to Athens to manage a local eatery. He soon moved with his wife to San Francisco to hone his craft under renowned chefs Mike Fennelly at Mecca and Gary Danko at his signature restaurant. He worked in the kitchens in San Francisco for 2 years. It was in 2000 that he moved back to Athens and opened his first venture, Five & Ten. Food & Wine Magazine named him one of the best new chefs in 2002.

After opening Empire State South in 2010, Hugh competed on season 3 of Top Chef Masters where he came in 5th out of 12 competing chefs. He was a hit on the show and became a regular judge in seasons 9 of the cooking competition series. In addition to his TV appearances and restaurants, Hugh has published his delectable recipes in 2 cookbooks with a 3rd on the way. His first titled A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen won the James Beard Award for Best Cookbook in America Cooking in 2012. He also took home the James Beard Award for best chef, Southeast that year. His 2nd cookbook titled Pick a Pickle: 50 recipes for Pickles, Relishes and Fermented Snacks was released in the spring of 2014.

Jason Roberts

Celebrity Chef Guest Speaker Jason Roberts is a New Zealand native who has set up shop in New Jersey as a popular celebrity chef personality. Some of Jason’s best contributions as a culinary creative have come in the form of cookbooks. He is the author of 3 cookbooks Elements and Graze, Lots of Little Meals Fast and his most recent cookbook, Good Food Fast! published in 2014. He is currently working on the sequel, Good Food Fast 2, scheduled to release in 2015.

Jason has been surrounded by food his whole life. He spent the first few years of his culinary career cooking under mentor and renowned chef Damien Pignolet as Executive Chef of the restaurant Bistro Moncur in Sydney. His culinary talent did not go unnoticed and he soon became the host of the daily cooking program Fresh, which aired on TV in Australia and New Zealand.

Since then he also appeared on a number of other Talk shows such as The Sharon Osbourne Show, The Wayne Brady Show, The Style Network’s You’re Invited, and Talk Soap with Lisa Rinna among others. Finally Jason hosted his own talk show on PAX Network called Jason Roberts’ Taste. The show garnered two American Accolade Awards in 2005 for Best Host and Best Health & Lifestyle Program. In 2012, he joined fellow celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall as a correspondent for The Chew on ABC.

Tom Kerridge

Tom Kerridge is a British Celebrity Chef Speaker known for his big, bold flavors and beautiful food presentation. Not only is he a best-selling author and TV personality, Tom owns and operates a gastropub with his wife Beth called The Hand & Flowers that is the only pub ever to receive 2 Michelin stars. He recently opened his newest venture, a pub called The Coach in 2014. Coach, which is centered around a rotisserie cooking style is already receiving rave reviews and is expected to be a big hit in 2015.

That same year he landed his own BBC TV series called Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food on the Cooking Channel where he shows people how to prepare pub favorites at home. The show has received positive feedback from viewers and critics. He was able to publish a best-selling cookbook named after the show in which he divulged many of his kitchen secrets that have earned his pub those coveted Michelin stars.

Tom’s second TV series, Best Ever Dishes, recently aired in the fall of 2014. Tom inspires home cooks to recreate family classics that every family member is sure to love. He has also published a cookbook based on this successful TV series and his every growing list of simple tricks to turn everyday dishes into fine dining cuisine.

Claire Robinson

Celebrity chef Claire Robinson received her culinary education from the French Culinary Institute and practically went from the classroom to the Food Network studio. Following graduation, Robinson earned a position working on the culinary production team for several cooking shows including Food Network’s Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello and Everyday Baking for Everyday Food on PBS. Her first on-camera television role came in 2010 when she was cast as host for Food Network Challenge as replacement for Keegan Gerhard. While hosting the show, Claire saw several notable chefs who competed on the show and went on to become big names in the culinary industry including Duff Goldman, Buddy Valastro, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Marc Murphy. The chefs cooked for judges Marcus Samuelsson, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Marc Murphy in hopes of winning $50,000 for their charity of choice. Marcel Biro

German born celebrity chef, Marcel Biró, began his journey to become a world famous chef at the age of six when he began cooking with his chef father. At the age of 15 he entered culinary school, and at the age of 21 he was a European certified chef instructor. Chef Biró continued to speed through the ranks teaching culinary classes during the day and cooking at Michelin star restaurants at night, and by the age of 24, he set a new standard becoming the youngest chef in history to receive the title Master Chef de Cuisine. Prior to receiving the esteemed title, he had already enjoyed serving as chef to German Chancellor Helmut Kohl; however, the best was still yet to come for the young culinary talent.  In 2004, he became the first German to land a national television cooking show deal in the United States.  Chef Biró stars in the Emmy Award-wining PBS series with his wife Shannon Kring Biró, who is also a writer and executive producer for the show, which chronicles Chef Biró’s unique infusion of European and Asian flavors in his culinary masterpieces.  On top of his acclaimed television series, Biró is has co-authored cookbooks Biró: European-Inspired Cuisine, and Ó: SpanAsian Cuisine by Biró, and has been featured in several other media outlets throughout the world including NPR, SmartMoney Magazine, TV Guide, and The Wall Street Journal.  Marcel is also a successful entrepreneur, and serves as the CEO and chef of Biró Internationale, LLC, a company he runs with his wife Shannon, consisting of acclaimed restaurants, culinary schools, and how-to media content.
