Tiffani Thiessen

Celebrity Chef Speaker Tiffani Thiessen is an actress turned Celebrity Chef TV Host who is best known for her role as Kelly Kapowski on the classic teen sitcom Saved by the Bell. In 2014, the Cooking Channel announced Celebrity Chef Appearance by Tiffani would become the host of her own cooking show on the network called Dinner at Tiffani’s. Tiffani has always had a passion for cooking and knew that she eventually wanted to take her skills in the kitchen to the next level.

Tiffani won Miss Junior America and was named Cover Girl magazine’s Model of the Year in 1989 before taking what would become her career defining role as Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell. She and a few of her Saved by the Bell cast mates were reunited in a skit on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in February of 2015. Following the success of the show, Tiffani was cast in a number of notable TV series including the teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210. It was in 2009 that Tiffani took on her memorable role as Elizabeth Burke in USA Network’s crime series White Collar. The show aired for 6 seasons and came to an end in December of 2014.

While filming White Collar, Tiffani made a Celebrity Chef Appearance as a judge on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. The episode was themed “Birthday Bash” for Tiffani’s birthday.

Celebrity Chef Sam Kass is all about a nice garden to table meal. For the past few years he has served as President Barack Obama’s Senior Advisor on Nutrition and the official White House Chef up until December of 2014. He is the first chef to plant a vegetable garden on the White House grounds since the 1890’s. When Sam decided to join the President in the White House he also became the Executive Director of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Campaign for health promotion among children.

Sam’s cooking career started a little different than most. During his junior year of college, Sam worked under Dean Zanella at 312 Chicago. This sparked an interest that would change his life forever. During his senior year, Sam decided to study abroad in Austria and trained under Chef Christian Domschitz. When his time there came to an end, Sam continued traveling around the world studying under some amazing chefs including Chef Paul Kahan.

Sam moved back to Chicago in 2006 and in 2007 and opened the Inevitable Table, his personal culinary company that focused solely on health conscious and nutritious food. Soon after, Sam became the Obama’s personal chef. In 2009 he moved with the Obamas to the White House and became an assistant chef under Executive Chef Cris Comerford. He also became Michelle Obama’s Food Initiative Coordinator. Sam was promoted to Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives in 2010. Celebrity Chef Sam is comfortable in front of the mic after providing countless interviews, press conferences and fundraising events as the go-to chef on new health initiatives.

Sam spent some of his time in 2014 traveling around the world to promote “Let’s Move!” and acting as a keynote speaker at events. Sam has also been very involved in school nutrition. He led the political defense of the Department of Agriculture’s new school standards in hopes of creating a healthier cafeteria menu.

2015 will be a new year for Sam! In December of 2014, Sam decided to retired his apron at the White House and move to New York City. We are so excited to see what this new path holds for Chef Sam and his inspiring career to create a healthier nation.

Katsuya Fukushima

Celebrity Chef Speaker Katsuya Fukushima is a math wiz who has used his college degree to shake up the culinary world through molecular gastronomy. His journey is a true inspiration and testimony of hard work and brains that not every ordinary chef has.

Katsuya was a double major in math and art but he knew while in college he was destined to chef. He enrolled at L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland and never looked back. Chef Katsuya worked several line cook jobs within the next few years; one being Cashion’s Eat Place under the guidance of Ann Cashion. Soon after his work for her he decided to fully devote himself to Jaleo, a tapas bar in Bethesda. After working at Jaleo for 3 years he assisted the esteemed owner and celebrity chef  Jose Andres in opening Café Atlantico where Katsuya was offered the chef de cuisine position.

His experience as Jaleo’s chef de cuisine gave Katsuya a presumable amount of freedom in how he wanted to prepare the menu. Chef Katsuya then began to unlock the wonders of molecular gastronomy. The term refers to new and inventive way of using science to aid your cooking. Katsuya was even recognized by Bon Appetit magazine as being the “pioneer” of molecular gastronomy.

In 2010 Katsuya competed against Jose Garces on Iron Chef: America in the battle of Mahi Mahi; he won with ease. Since then Katsuya has made several appearances on cooking shows such as Meet the Chef, No Reservations, and Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie. He recently opened his own restaurant in Washington. D.C. in 2013 named Daikaya. Daikaya features a highly personal and hand crafted menu that reflects all of Katsuya’s dreams and experiences.

When he is not in the kitchen, Katsuya enjoys volunteering at fundraisers and making appearances and speeches at local colleges. His two most noted appearances are at Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Autism Speaks. He also recently spoke with students at the College of William and Mary about hopes and aspirations and where they can take you if you work hard.

Dave Eckert

Celebrity speaker Dave Eckert brings more than 25 years of experience in broadcasting, food and dining reporting, and a passion for food and wine to the table in his Emmy award winning show Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert.  Before he landed the hit show, which airs across 160 Public Broadcasting affiliates across the country, he worked as a reporter covering news, sports, and weather before he found his niche in food when he was hired by Chicago superstation WGN-TV to help produce, report, and edit “What’s Cookin’ Chicago.” During his tenure with What’s Cookin’ Chicago, Eckert developed an incredible knowledge for food, and got to meet some of the world’s most talented chefs including Julia Child. In addition to his television work, Eckert has become known as one the world’s most prominent food, wine, and spirits connoisseurs.  The dining expert has a collection of about 3,000 bottles of wine and spirits in his home cellar, with many bottles coming from regions the Culinary Travels host has visited for his show, such as Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Scotland, Mexico, and Kentucky. Additionally, Dave Eckert enjoys cooking and pairing wine with tasteful cuisine, and can be found teaching cooking and wine classes at the Culinary Center of Kansas City. He also writes a regular column for the nationally distributed Kansas City Bullsheet, and is a frequent contributor to the James Beard award wining Food section of the Kansas City Star newspaper.
