Chris Cosentino

Many of us are content to get our packaged meat from the grocery store or our favorite food service, but just ask Chris Cosentino and he’ll tell you we’re missing out. Celebrity Chef Chris has become known for a concept he defines as offal cooking, or taking the innards and usually discarded parts of meat and cooking them into delectable dishes. He gained notable recognition in the culinary world when he won the 4th season of the Top Chef Masters competition series in 2012 which donated the grand prize of $100,000 to Chris’ chosen charity the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The chef’s other TV appearances include hosting duties of Food Network’s 2009 series Chefs vs. City, and appearances on other network hits The Best Thing I Ever Ate and Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.

For over 12 year’s Chris has cranked out some of San Francisco’s best classic Italian style dishes at his restaurant Incanto which closed in 2014 to make way for his new more casual dining restaurant Porcellino. The restaurant was one of the hardest San Francisco eateries at which to secure a table and his new restaurant will usher in a whole new breed of customers and retain his loyal eaters. While developing his restaurant success, Chris also produces his own line of sausage products under the brand name Boccalone. His affinity for meats and the different ways to cook and season them led him to be featured on an episode of the History Channel series Modern Marvels where he explained how to cook pork brains.

Chris published his first cookbook in mid-2012 titled Beginnings: My Way to Start a Meal, which detailed some of the talented chef’s best Italian recipes for the home cook. Many anxiously await the release of his latest cookbook set to inform the public all about his perfected art of offal cooking.

Shirley Chung

37-year-old Shirley Chung attained a notable amount of fame in the kitchen following her third-place finish on the eleventh season of Bravo’s Top Chef: New Orleans, just barely losing to Nina Compton and Nicholas Elmi. Shirley impressed Padma Lakshmi and her fellow judges with her cuisine without borders, drawing from Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and French traditions.

Before making a splash in the culinary world, Shirley received a business degree from the University of California and worked in Silicon Valley for four years before deciding to refocus on food. Shirley hit the books and the kitchen at the California Culinary Academy, earning a Culinary Art degree.

Shirley started out staging at The French Laundry before taking a position at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. After moving to Nevada, Shirley opened a Las Vegas location for Thomas Keller’s chain. The Las Vegas culinary scene provided many opportunities to Shirley, who served at Guy Savoy’s self-named French eatery, Mario Batali’s B&B Ristorante, and Jose Andre’s China Poblano. While working at China Poblano, Shirley developed a passion for Mexican cuisine and rediscovered the culinary traditions of her homeland.

When she’s not in the kitchen, Shirley is an avid traveler, always looking for new cultural cuisines to add to her repertoire. In the summer of 2014, Shirley received an offer to take part in the latest celebrity cruise line, Top Chef at Sea. Shirley sets sail with fellow cheftestants Tiffany Derry, Casey Thompson, and Hosea Rosenberg aboard the Celebrity Reflection, headed for the Eastern Caribbean on the 15th of November.

Nina Compton

Celebrity Chef Nina Compton, the self-proclaimed “gnocchi queen,” broke into the culinary world following her runner-up performance on the 11th season of Bravo’s kitchen reality show, Top Chef which aired in late 2013 into 2014. Nina dazzled familiar judges Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and their fellow judges with her mixture of French, Caribbean, and Italian cuisines, and her inevitable charm led her to become the season’s fan favorite.

Nina started her cooking career after graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 2001. From there, Nina went on to work under renowned chefs Daniel Boulud and Alex Lee at their contemporary French restaurant in New York City, Daniel. The restaurant is one of only 7 restaurants in NYC that boast 3 stars from the revered Michelin Guide.

After moving to Miami, Nina gained even more experience serving under Floridian master chefs Norman van Aken and Phillippe Ruiz. Later, Nina accepted a sous chef position at Casa Casuarina, a boutique hotel in Miami Beach. In 2008, esteemed chef Scott Conant realized Nina’s potential and offered her an executive chef position at his classy Italian eatery, Scarpetta. Currently, Nina continues to serve at Scarpetta and always tries to enjoy her time spent in the kitchen, for the moment if nothing else. Nina always makes sure to keep Maldon salt, olive oil, and calabrese chilis on hand when she’s cooking.

In the summer of 2014, Nina was invited to participate in the celebrity chef cruise circuit, Top Chef at Sea. Nina will be aboard the Celebrity Solstice with fellow up-and-coming cheftestants Brooke Williamson, Tiffani Faison, and Paul Qui headed towards Alaska on the 15th of August. She hopes to one day be able to return to her home in Saint Lucia and provide other aspiring chefs more learning opportunities in the form of cooking demos and a full-blown culinary school. Given her enormous success on Top Chef the future does seem bright for this up and coming celebrity chef.
