Kristen Kish

29-year-old Kristen Kish recently broke onto the celebrity chef scene after winning the tenth season of Top Chef: Seattle. Born in South Korea and adopted by an American family at just four months old, Kristen discovered her passion for cooking by age five.

As a former high-school model, Kristen traded in her flashy dresses for a chef’s apron, enrolling at Chicago’s Le Cordon Bleu culinary school to pursue her lifelong culinary dreams. After graduating in 2005, Kristen moved to Boston to work as a line cook at the Boston eatery, Top of the Hub, where she served for eighteen months.

Kristen’s big break came when renowned chef Barbara Lynch offered her an instructor position at Stir, Lynch’s culinary demonstration kitchen. During this time, Kristen undoubtedly impressed Barbara, who promoted her to chef de cuisine at both Stir and Menton, where she served until March of 2014.

Boston’s culinary culture provided other opportunities, too. Kristen spent some time working as chef de partie under Michelin-star chef Guy Martin at Sensing, his now-closed French restaurant. Kristen used this experience to develop her uniquely Italian-influenced French cuisine, which only added to her reputation, earning her a place on Top Chef: Seattle.

With style and expertise, Kristen thoroughly impressed Tom Colicchio and his fellow judges, but faced elimination in the eleventh round. In a stroke of luck, or perhaps strong-willed determination, Kristen narrowly escaped elimination, becoming the first cheftestant to win after facing Top Chef’s notorious “Last Chance Kitchen” and the second female winner. That season, Kristen bested Brooke Williamson, Sheldon Simeon, and Joshua Valentine to earn her title.

In the summer of 2014, Kristen was booked to take part in Top Chef at Sea aboard the Celebrity Infinity. Scheduled for departure in October, the cruise offers Kristen a chance to meet fans, entertain them, and maybe even whip them up something nice to eat.

Andy Ticer

Chef Andy Ticer dreamed of opening a restaurant and his dream were realized when he teamed up with fellow chef and friend Chef Michael Hudman in 2008. Their first restaurants, Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen and Hog and Hominy in Memphis, Tennessee, both made it onto the list of Southern Living Magazine’s 100 Places to Eat Now. They were also featured in GQ Magazine when Hog and Hominy was named as a Best New Restaurant of 2013.

Chef Andy’s American Southern-Italian style is derived from time spent under French Chef Jose Guitierrez, at Chez Philippe in Memphis, and also at the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria, Italy. His time spent in Italy including living in Lyon, the food capitol of the world, and gave him a firm foundation of the true Italian culinary arts. Chef Andy and his skills have been recognized by the James Beard Foundation twice as a semi-finalist for Best Chef of the Southeast. He was also named by Food & Wine Magazine as one of the Best New Chef’s of 2013 alongside talented chefs such as Chef Danny Bowien, Chef Michael Voltaggio, and Chef Alex Stupak.

One of Chef Andy’s greatest accomplishments besides his two thriving restaurants is his cookbook with Chef Michael called Collards and Carbonara. The cookbook is simple with one page recipes alongside beautiful photos of the finished product, but the recipes are rich with ingenious flavor combinations from both of their restaurants. The cookbook also features spotlight recipes from their celebrity chef friends including Top Chef Masters season four winner Chef Chris Cosentino.

Michael Hudman

Growing up in an Italian-American family sitting around large family dinners of classic Italian dishes inspired Chef Michael Hudman to become one of today’s up and coming American-Italian chefs. Food & Wine Magazine named Chef Michael along with his partner and friend Chef Andy Ticer both to the list of Best New Chefs in 2013. They were also semi-finalists two years in a row for the James Beard Foundations Best Chef of the Southeast.

Chef Michael and his friend Chef Andy both studied culinary arts at Chaz Philippe under French Chef Jose Guitierrez and spent time in Italy at the Italian Culinary Institute. Their time spent in Italy including the food capitol of the world Lyon, continues to have a heavy impact on their cooking style today. The cooking duo brought their dreams of owning a restaurant to live in the form of two restaurants Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen and Hog and Hominy. The restaurants are only improving and Southern Living Magazine placed both on the list of 100 Places to Eat Now in 2013. Hog and Hominy was featured in GQ Magazine as one a Best New Restaurant of 2013 as well.

Chef Michael also co-wrote a cookbook, Collards and Carbonara, with Chef Andy which includes recipes from their restaurants. Debi Mazar, an American Actress and newly minted TV food star, is known for her outgoing personality in roles showing her wit and thick northern, jersey-like accent. Lidia Bastianich

Lidia Bastianich is a best-selling cookbook author, television chef favorite, and owner of four New York City restaurants.  Her specialty is in Italian and American-Italian style cooking.  Bastianich is no stranger to the television scene.  She began lining up cooking shows in 1998 and makes regular appearances on numerous television networks.

Bastianich launched Lidia’s Italy in America in 2011; her fourth television series.  She launched the series through Tayola Productions; an entertainment company that produces high quality broadcast productions, of which Bastianich is both founder and president.  Bastianich and her daughter are now business partners and own several Italian restaurants including Felida, Esca, Becco and New York Times four-star award winning, Del Posto’s in New York.  She also owns restaurants in Pennsylvania and in Missouri; both are a version of Lidia’s and all serve her famous Italian cuisine.

Bastianich has several cookbooks, and has gained recognition as a best selling author for some of her cookbook contributions.  Bastianich’s books include Lidia Cooks from the Heart of Italy, Lydia’s Italy, Lidia’s Family Table, Lidia’s Italian-American Kitchen, Lidia’s Italian Table and La Cucina di Lidia. Restaurants, books, and television are not Bastianich’s only specialty.

Lidia is the mother of Joe Bastianich who stars as a judge alongside Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliot on ABC’s hit series, MasterChef.  In 2010,  Bastianich and her son Joe opened Eataly, the largest artisanal Italian food and wine marketplace in the New York City area.
