Louis DiBiccari

Louis DiBiccari is a young burgeoning chef and culinary artist whose burst his way onto the scene in Boston. Like many of the famous chefs of our time, Louis DiBiccari is a homegrown talent. Celebrity Chef Speaker Louis was first exposed to cooking from his Italian mother’s distinct recipes.  Louis began experimenting with cooking during his time at Fitchburg State University in his apartment, and eventually decided to follow his budding passion and enroll in culinary school in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Needing to gain professional experience in the kitchen, DiBiccari’s first position came in the kitchen of the famous chef Christopher Gross’s restaurant Christopher’s Bistro in Phoenix.

Louis decided to move back to Boston at this point, and pursue an internship opportunity with the Season’s restaurant.  This helped jumpstart his career and landed him a position with Geoff Gardner at the Sel de la Terre.  He would spend 12 years there establishing himself as a definite player in the industry.  In 2008 he was named chef de cuisine at the Back Bay restaurant and was given full reign over the kitchen.  DiBiccari earned several awards for his work at the Back Bay including “Rising Star Chefs” by StarChefs.com.  Louis has also started a concept known as “Chef Louie Nights;” where guests vote on themes and ingredients on his website and on the morning of the event Louie and other participating chefs must scramble around the city for supplies and prepare the dishes on the spot.

In 2013 Louis opened his own restaurant, Tavern Road, in Boston with his brother Michael DiBiccari.  The restaurant has been a success, and it offers a distinctive menu filled with upscale bar-food options.  In addition to the sit-down restaurant, Louis has introduced a street cart with the Tavern Road name that offers select menu options on the street.  Louis DiBiccari has also developed an initiative called Create: six artists, six chefs, one canvas.  The idea is that a local Boston chef is paired with a local Boston artist and the goal is to collaborate create a dish that reflects on the artistic abilities of both the chef and artist.  The goal is to draw the relationship between culinary and visual arts with a unique perspective from the city of Boston.

After her schooling, she worked at Macy’s Culinary Kitchen and started her own specialty cake business, Cristine’s Fine Pastries.

April Bloomfield

Chef April Bloomfield has become one of the top chefs in America, most famous for winning two Michelin stars for her restaurants in New York City, The Spotted Pig and The Breslin. But before this celebrity chef speaker became known in the U.S., she got her start cooking overseas, in her home country of England.  Her first big gig was cooking for royalty at Kensington Palace.  She then went on to work at Bibendum, which is considered one of the finest restaurants in London.  After success at Kensington and Bibendum, she moved on to the River Café where she worked under renowned chefs Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray, which she credits to much of her culinary success later in life. It was during her time at The River Café that she was scouted by American Chef Mario Batali.  Looking for an experienced chef to open a bistro-style restaurant in New York City, Chef Batali gave Bloomfield the job, and she moved to the Big Apple in the fall of 2003 where she opened her first restaurant, The Spotted Pig.  The restaurant took off, quickly building a reputation for its fine eats.  Just two years after opening, the bistro won a Michelin Star, one of the highest honors in the culinary industry. This achievement made Bloomfield one of ten female chefs in the United States to ever win a Michelin Star. Chef Bloomfield then opened her second restaurant in New York, located in the Ace Hotel, called The Breslin. This restaurant did not fall short of expectations, as it followed in the footsteps of The Spotted Pig, winning a Michelin Star.  Celebrity chef speaker April Bloomfield is also known by many for defeating the famed Chef Michael Symon in Iron Chef America, in which she also set a record for achieving the highest score of any single challenger in the history of the show.

Kevin Sbraga

The name Kevin Sbraga is most recognizable as the season seven winner of the hit reality television series Top Chef.  However, this talented chef has a lot more to bring to the table than just the Top Chef title. The African American Italian chef, and self-proclaimed “Barack Obama of the cooking game,” got his start working with the famed Chef Jose Garces.  Garces, impressed with Kevin’s philosophy and work, hired him on as culinary director of Garces Group. Under the mentoring of Chef Garces, Sbraga competed in the Bocuse d’Or USA culinary competition in the fall of 2008 and won the award for Best Meat Presentation.

This achievement opened up many doors for Sbraga, and upon returning from competition he was offered a position by Stephen Starr, the head of the prestigious Starr Restaurant Organization, as executive chef at Rat’s Restaurant in Hamilton, New Jersey.  In 2010, Chef Sbraga graciously accepted the invitation to join the season seven cast of Top Chef, where he went on to advance to the finale, and eventually win, impressing audiences across America. When asked about his experience in Top Chef, he will say that it brought him a sense of clarity and direction in his career, and before he had even won, he felt that he had the confidence to open his own restaurant.

In October 2011, he opened up his restaurant Sbraga, which he runs by his philosophy of no rules, just cook from the heart and cook what’s good.  Since the establishment of his restaurant, celebrity chef speaker Kevin Sbraga has had many other business ventures including building, and expanding, on his culinary consulting company, Sbraga Dining.  He has also received numerous accolades including Esquire Magazine’s “Best New Restaurants” 2012, Bon Appetit Magazine’s “Philadelphia’s New Originals Lightweight Knock out” 2012, Rising Star’s “Community Chef” 2013, and Zagat Restaurant Guide’s “#1 Restaurant on Avenue of the Arts & Best Newcomer” 2013.
